When September rolls around and the kids head back to school, it can feel like camping season is coming to an end. But here in Eastern Ontario, some of the best camping of the year may still be ahead.
Cooler temperatures, changing leaves and quieter campgrounds make fall a great time to squeeze in a few more weekends before putting the trailer away for winter.
Cooler Days, Better Campfires
After camping through the heat and humidity of July and August, those crisp fall temperatures can be a welcome change. Days are often still comfortable for hiking, exploring or relaxing around the campsite, while cooler evenings are perfect for a campfire.
Just remember to pack a few extra layers and some warm blankets for those chilly nights!

One of the best parts of camping in Ontario in the fall is the scenery. As the leaves begin to change, even a campground you've visited all summer can feel completely different.

A furnace, warm bed and a hot cup of coffee in the morning can make a chilly fall weekend pretty comfortable. Just keep an eye on the overnight temperatures and make sure your RV and its plumbing are protected as temperatures start getting closer to freezing.
So, When Is Camping Season Actually Over?
There really isn't one date that marks the end of camping season.
For some campers, Labour Day is the last trip of the year. Others keep going well into October. It depends on the weather, your RV and how comfortable you are camping in cooler temperatures.
The important part is not waiting too long to prepare your RV for winter. Once freezing temperatures are in the forecast, your RV's plumbing system needs to be properly protected.
